10cm x 10cm x 1.8cm Aluminum Metal Heatsink Block
Radiator Amplifier Led IC Transistor Vga Ram Memory Cpu Gpu Peltier Heat Reducer
This product is a square, silver aluminium profile heatsink measuring 100mm x 100mm x 18mm with 16 fins. The flat 10cm x 10cm base spreads the heat over a wide area; the 16 fins running end to end across the base transfer this heat to the air. It works passively (without a fan), has no moving parts and makes no noise.
The square, wide base leaves room to mount one large heat source (a 40x40mm peltier element, a COB led, a power module) or several small parts on the same surface. With an overall height of 18mm it is a low profile heatsink; it fits tight spaces inside a box, under a circuit board or close to a device cover. Near the two edges of the profile there is a lengthwise screw channel at the root of the fins; these channels can be used to screw on a cover or a mounting plate. Parts are mounted with thermal paste and a screw, or with thermal adhesive / tape.
At about 134gr it is light for a 10cm x 10cm heatsink. An 80mm or 92mm fan can be placed on the fins to increase cooling with forced air; this is how it is used as the hot side heatsink in peltier assemblies.
Key features:
Square wide base: The flat 100mm x 100mm base leaves room for a peltier element, a COB led or several transistors on the same surface and spreads the heat to all fins.
16 fins, 18mm low profile: The 16 fins multiply the surface in contact with air compared with a flat aluminium plate; the 18mm overall height fits shallow boxes.
Profile with screw channels: The lengthwise screw channels at the two edges suit screwing on a cover, a fan holder or a mounting plate; parts can also be fixed by drilling the base between the fins.
Passive and silent: It needs no fan, has no moving parts, so it does not wear and makes no noise; a fan can be added on top when needed.
Light aluminium body: The aluminium body of about 134gr conducts heat well and adds little weight to the device.
Features:
- Product type: Finned aluminium profile heatsink (passive radiator)
- Model: 100x100x18mm Aluminum Heatsink
- Cooling type: Passive (fanless); a fan can be added when needed
- Number of fins: 16
- Fin direction: The fins run end to end from one edge of the base to the other, both ends open
- Base surface: 100mm x 100mm flat surface
- Suitable parts: Peltier element (40x40mm), COB led and led module, TO-220 / TO-247 transistor, mosfet, regulator, power module
- Mounting: Screw with thermal paste, thermal adhesive or double sided thermal tape
- Screw channel: 2 lengthwise screw channels near the two edges of the profile
- Heat transfer: The finned structure increases the surface in contact with air and lets heat pass to the air faster
- Workability: The base can be drilled between the fins (mounting with a small head screw and nut that fit between the fins), the profile can be cut shorter
- Use with a fan: An 80mm or 92mm fan can be placed on top (fan not included)
- Fin thickness: About 1.2mm
- Overall height: 18mm (base and fins together)
- Material: Aluminium (extruded profile)
- Colour: Silver (natural aluminium)
- Dimensions: 100mm x 100mm x 18mm (length x width x height)
- Weight: About 134gr
Usage information:
- Clean the contact surfaces of the part and the heatsink base; apply a thin, even layer of thermal paste between them.
- If you mount the part with a screw, drill the base between two fins, deburr it and press the part firmly onto the base with a small head screw and nut that fit between the fins. Mount a peltier element between two heatsinks or between a heatsink and a cold block, tightening the screws crosswise and evenly.
- When mounting transistors whose body carries current (the metal back of a TO-220 / TO-247 case is usually connected to one leg) on the same heatsink, use an insulating pad between them and an insulating washer on the screw.
- Place it so that air can flow between the fins; both ends of the fins must stay open. In a closed box provide airflow along the fins or add a fan on top.
Applications:
- Peltier mini fridge, cooler and heater assemblies
- COB led, led floodlight and high power led module cooling
- Amplifier and audio amplifier output transistors
- Power mosfet and transistor cooling
- Linear regulator (7805, LM317 etc.) cooling
- Power supply and charger circuits
- Inverter and motor driver circuits
- Laser diode and laser module cooling
- Electronic load and test setups
Points to consider:
- Aluminium conducts electricity. Do not let the heatsink touch exposed conductors and solder joints on the circuit board; insulate where needed.
- Without thermal paste or a pad, air remains between the part and the heatsink and cooling drops noticeably.
- This product is a passive aluminium profile; how much heat it can remove depends on ambient temperature, airflow and mounting, and it has no fixed "watt" rating. At high power (peltier, powerful led) add a fan and use it while measuring the part temperature.
- The heatsink can be hot during operation; wait for it to cool before touching.
- This heatsink has no mounting feet or brackets for a computer processor (CPU) or graphics card.
