6cm x 10cm x 1cm Aluminum Metal Heatsink Block
Radiator Amplifier Led IC Transistor Vga Ram Memory Cpu Gpu Peltier Heat Reducer
This product is a thin, silver aluminium profile heatsink measuring 100mm x 60mm x 10mm with 16 fins. The 100mm long fins are lined up on a flat 60mm wide base; with an overall height of only 10mm it is a flat heatsink. It works passively (without a fan), has no moving parts and makes no noise.
Thanks to its 10mm height it fits under a box cover, behind a circuit board or between two boards; it is used where a tall finned heatsink does not fit. The flat base is placed on top of or under heat generating parts such as led panels, driver ICs, mosfets, regulators and small peltier elements. There is a lengthwise channel in the middle of the base. Because the fin gaps are narrow, parts are usually fixed with thermal adhesive or tape; if a screw is used, a thread is tapped into the base.
At about 68gr it is light and adds little weight to the device. For more heat a 60mm fan can be placed on top to increase cooling with forced air. If a wider base and taller fins are needed, the 100x100x18mm heatsink can be chosen.
Key features:
10mm thin flat profile: The 10mm overall height lets the heatsink fit under box covers, behind boards and in narrow gaps.
16 fins: The 16 fins running along 100mm multiply the surface in contact with air compared with a flat aluminium plate of the same size.
60mm x 100mm flat base: Several transistors, regulators or led modules can be mounted side by side on the same base; heat spreads through the base to all fins.
Passive and silent: It needs no fan, has no moving parts, so it does not wear and makes no noise; a 60mm fan can be added on top when needed.
Light aluminium body: The aluminium body of about 68gr conducts heat well; it can be used in portable and light devices.
Features:
- Product type: Thin finned aluminium profile heatsink (passive radiator)
- Model: 6cmx10cm Aluminum Heatsink
- Cooling type: Passive (fanless); a fan can be added when needed
- Number of fins: 16
- Fin direction: The fins run along 100mm and are lined up across the 60mm width; both ends open
- Base surface: 100mm x 60mm flat surface
- Middle channel: Lengthwise channel in the middle of the base
- Suitable parts: Led panel and led module, driver IC, TO-220 transistor, mosfet, regulator, small peltier element
- Mounting: Thermal adhesive or double sided thermal tape; for a screw a thread is tapped into the base (with thermal paste)
- Heat transfer: The finned structure increases the surface in contact with air and lets heat pass to the air faster
- Workability: The profile can be cut shorter; the fin gaps are narrow, so a screw head or nut does not fit between the fins
- Use with a fan: A 60mm fan can be placed on top (fan not included)
- Overall height: 10mm (base and fins together)
- Material: Aluminium (extruded profile)
- Colour: Silver (natural aluminium)
- Dimensions: 100mm x 60mm x 10mm (length x width x height)
- Weight: About 68gr
Usage information:
- Clean the contact surfaces of the part and the heatsink base; apply a thin, even layer of thermal paste between them.
- The fin gaps are narrow, so a screw head or nut does not fit between the fins. Fix the part with thermal adhesive or tape; if you use a screw, tap a thread into the base (if the base is too thin, cut the fin where the screw goes).
- When mounting transistors whose body carries current (the metal back of a TO-220 case is usually connected to one leg) on the same heatsink, use an insulating pad between them and an insulating washer on the screw.
- Place it so that air can flow between the fins; both ends of the fins must stay open. In a closed box provide airflow along the fins or add a fan.
Applications:
- Led panel and high power led module cooling
- Amplifier and audio amplifier output transistors
- Power mosfet and transistor cooling
- Linear regulator (7805, LM317 etc.) cooling
- IC and chip cooling (adhesive mounting)
- Small peltier cooler and heater assemblies
- Power supply and charger circuits
- Stepper motor driver and 3D printer board cooling
- Cooling in boxes and narrow spaces under covers
Points to consider:
- Aluminium conducts electricity. Do not let the heatsink touch exposed conductors and solder joints on the circuit board; insulate where needed.
- Without thermal paste or a pad, air remains between the part and the heatsink and cooling drops noticeably.
- This product is a thin passive profile with short fins; how much heat it can remove depends on ambient temperature, airflow and mounting, and it has no fixed "watt" rating. At high power add a fan or use a larger heatsink and measure the part temperature.
- The heatsink can be hot during operation; wait for it to cool before touching.
- This heatsink has no mounting feet or brackets for a computer processor (CPU) or graphics card.
