     This product is a silver aluminum profile heatsink measuring 150mm x 60mm x 25mm with 24 fins. The 24 fins, each 1mm thick, are lined up along the 150mm long flat base; each fin runs across the 60mm width of the base and transfers heat to the air from a large surface. It works without a fan (passive), has no moving parts and makes no noise.

     The flat base, approximately 2mm thick, is placed under or on top of heat generating parts such as amplifier output transistors, power mosfets, regulators, peltier elements and high power leds. Thanks to its long and narrow shape, several transistors or mosfets can be lined up on the same heatsink. Mounting is done with screws together with thermal paste, or with thermal adhesive / tape.

     At 154gr it is light for a 150mm long heatsink; placed inside an enclosure or at the edge of a circuit board it adds little weight to the device. If needed, a fan can be placed on top to increase cooling with forced air.

Usage information:

• Clean the contact surfaces of the part and the heatsink base; apply a thin and even layer of thermal paste between them.
• If you will fix the part with a screw, drill the base between two fins, deburr it and press the part firmly with a screw and nut; use a nut instead of tapping the thin base. When mounting several parts, check that each part sits fully on the base.
• When mounting transistors whose case carries voltage (the metal back of a TO-220 / TO-247 case is usually connected to one leg) on the same heatsink, put an insulating pad between them and an insulating washer on the screw.
• Place it so that air can flow between the fins; in a closed enclosure provide air flow along the fins or add a fan.

Points to consider:

•  Aluminum conducts electricity. Do not let the heatsink touch exposed conductors and solder joints on the circuit board; add insulation if needed.
•  Mounting without thermal paste or a pad leaves air between the part and the heatsink and cooling drops noticeably.
•  This product is a passive aluminum profile; it does not include a fan, screws, paste or insulating pad. How much heat it can remove depends on ambient temperature, air flow and mounting; at high power, use it while measuring the part temperature.
•  The heatsink can be hot during operation; wait for it to cool before touching.
•  This heatsink does not include mounting feet or brackets for a computer processor (CPU) or graphics card.
