     This product is a dual band Wifi antenna with an SMA male connector, working in the 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz bands with 12dBi gain (seller value, total of both bands). The nut of the SMA male connector has an internal thread and there is a pin in the center; it screws directly onto an SMA female (external thread) antenna socket with a center hole. SMA female sockets are used on 5.8GHz video transmitters, SDR receivers, industrial routers and wireless modules with SMA sockets, and antenna extension cables.

     The antenna is 195mm long when straight and 170mm when folded at its hinge; the body width is 25mm. Its black body has a red window detail and it weighs 25gr. Thanks to its hinge, the antenna can be set upright whether the device stands horizontally or vertically. It is an omnidirectional, vertically polarized stick antenna; impedance is 50ohm and VSWR is ≤1.5.

     There is also a version with the same look and an RP-SMA male (center hole) connector; most home modems, routers and Wifi network cards have RP-SMA sockets and need that version. The product in this listing is the SMA male version. Increasing the RF power provides a better connection but also increases its harmful effect on living beings.

Usage information:

• Check the antenna socket of your device: if the socket has an external thread and a hole in the center (SMA female), this antenna fits. Fit the antenna by turning it clockwise by hand; do not tighten with pliers.
• Set the antenna upright at its hinge. Keep the transmitter and receiver antennas in the same orientation (both upright).
• Keep the antenna in an open place, away from metal surfaces and the inside of the enclosure; if needed, bring it outside the enclosure with an SMA extension cable.

•  Please pay attention to the socket type and gender ( Male – Female ) when purchasing ! This product is SMA male (center pin). It does not fit the RP-SMA female (center pin) socket found on most home modems, routers and Wifi network cards; they need the RP-SMA male version.
•  The antenna is for the 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz bands; it is not used as the mobile line antenna of 2G / 3G / 4G (GSM, LTE) modems.
•  12dBi is the seller value given as the total of the gains of both bands; there is no 12dBi gain in each band separately, the gain in a single band is lower. The improvement depends on the walls and obstacles in the environment.
•  The antenna is vertically polarized and weighs 25gr; in moving video systems that use circularly polarized antennas (such as drones), the signal weakens when the antenna on the other side is not the same type.
