Wemos D1 Mini V4
ESP8266 Wireless Internet Wifi IOT Development Board Type C Usb Uart IIC SPI Ch340 4MB Flash
The Type-C cable is not shipped with the product. If you need a cable, you must obtain it separately.
The Wemos D1 Mini V4 is a small wireless internet development board measuring 34.2mm x 25.6mm, built around the ESP8266EX WiFi chip. The board has 4MB flash memory, an 80MHz / 160MHz processor, 11 digital input output pins and 1 analog input (3.2V maximum). In the V4 version the USB connection is a Type-C socket; through this socket the board is both powered and programmed via the CH340C USB-serial chip. It can also be run from an external 5V supply; the onboard 3.3V regulator powers the ESP8266.
In addition, the V4 version has a 4-pin I2C socket; I2C sensors and displays are connected with a cable without soldering. The PCB antenna on the top edge of the board provides the WiFi connection, and the SLEEP solder bridge on the back makes deep sleep use easier. There is a reset button and a blue user led connected to GPIO2. It is programmed with Arduino IDE, MicroPython and NodeMCU; it can be stacked with many shields of the D1 Mini size. It is also known as the small Arduino board with internet.
Key features:
Programming over Type-C: Thanks to the USB Type-C socket and the CH340C USB-serial chip, the board connects to a computer and is programmed without a separate programmer, and it is powered from the same cable.
WiFi and 4MB flash: The ESP8266EX chip makes the 2.4GHz WiFi connection with the onboard PCB antenna; 4MB flash memory gives enough room for the program and file system.
I2C socket: With the 4-pin I2C socket of the V4 version, sensors and displays are connected without soldering. Check the pin order of the socket before using a ready-made cable.
Small and shield compatible: With its 34.2mm x 25.6mm size it fits small enclosures; the 8-pin rows on 2 sides stack with D1 Mini shields (relay, temperature, display, battery).
Deep sleep support: When the SLEEP solder bridge on the back is closed, the board can wake up from deep sleep by itself; consumption drops in battery powered sensor setups.

Usage information:
- Connect the board to the computer with a Type-C cable. If the board does not appear on Windows, download and install the CH340 driver (CH341SER.EXE); in Arduino IDE add the ESP8266 board package and select the "LOLIN(WEMOS) D1 R2 & mini" board.
- On the back of the board the pins are labeled with GPIO numbers (for example 5 = D1 SCL, 4 = D2 SDA); make the connections according to the pin table above.
- Solder whichever of the included male, female and long leg (stackable) headers suits your use to the board: male for a breadboard, female to plug a shield on top, long leg to stack in between.
Application areas:
- Smart home and home automation applications
- WiFi relay and smart socket control
- Temperature and humidity monitoring
- Greenhouse and garden irrigation control
- Weather station and air quality measurement
- Remote control from a phone or over the internet
- Sending IoT sensor data to the internet
- Led and RGB lighting control
- Door, window and motion alarm notifications
- Battery powered deep sleep sensor nodes
Precautions:
- The input output pins run at 3.3V; do not connect 5V signals. Apply at most 3.2V to the A0 analog input.
- D3 (GPIO0), D4 (GPIO2) and D8 (GPIO15) must be at a certain level during start up; if you connect a button or load that changes their level at start up, the board may not boot or may not be programmable.
- The Type-C cable is not included, and with charge-only cables the board does not appear on the computer; use a cable with data lines.
- The headers do not come soldered to the board; they must be soldered before use.
