     HKA1-41Y04 Joystick Latch is a 4 way, stay put (latching) control lever that mounts in a 30mm panel hole. Under its body there are 4 NO (normally open) contact blocks, one for each direction. When the lever is pushed in a direction, the contact of that direction closes and the lever stays in that position after it is released; the circuit stays closed until the lever is brought back to the center by hand.

     The lever can move in only one direction at a time, so only one contact is closed at a time; two opposite movements such as forward-backward or left-right cannot be selected together. In AC (alternating current) circuits, depending on the voltage, the contacts carry 15A at 150V, 10A at 250V and 5A at 600V; contactor and relay coils can be switched directly. In DC circuits the current capacity is much lower. The contact blocks have transparent bodies and screw terminals, so wires are connected without soldering.

     The rubber bellows at the base of the lever protects against dust and splashing water. The product is used in the control boxes of cranes, hoists, conveyors and lifting platforms where the movement must continue after the direction is selected and the lever is released.

Key features:

     Stay put position (Latch): The lever stays in the direction it is pushed and does not return to the center when released. To stop the movement, the lever is brought to the center by hand. For applications that need a spring return type, momentary models such as HKA1-41Z04 should be chosen.

     4 directions, 4 NO contacts: A separate NO contact block is connected to each direction. Since only one direction can be selected at a time, two opposite movements cannot be activated together.

     High current capacity: With AC contact ratings of 15A at 150V, 10A at 250V and 5A at 600V, it switches contactor and relay coils or small loads directly.

     30mm panel mounting: It is inserted from the front into a control panel with a 30mm hole and tightened from the back with the mounting nut. The contact blocks have screw terminals.

     Lever with bellows: The rubber bellows at the base of the lever reduces dust and water ingress into the body.

Usage information:

• Drill a 30mm hole in the panel. Insert the lever into the hole from the front and tighten it from the back with the mounting nut; align the direction marks with the labels on the panel.
• The two screw terminals on the contact block of each direction are the NO contact of that direction. Connect the circuit to be controlled (e.g. a contactor coil) between these two terminals; the circuit closes when the lever is pushed in that direction.
• The lever stays in the direction it is pushed. To stop the movement, bring the lever to the center by hand; when the lever is in the center, all 4 contacts are open.

Precautions:

•  This product is a stay put type: the lever does not return to the center when released and the circuit stays closed. In applications that must stop when released (dead man), use a spring return momentary type.
•  Do not draw more current than the contact rating; switch loads with a high inrush current such as motors through a contactor.
•  The contact ratings are for AC. In DC circuits the current is much lower (seller value: 0.6A at 125V DC, 0.3A at 250V DC); do not pass a DC motor or high DC current directly through this switch, use a relay or contactor.
•  When using with mains voltage, make the connection with the power off; do not leave the screw terminals exposed.
•  The contacts are NO type; when the lever is in the center no direction is closed. Circuits that need NC (normally closed) contacts require an additional contact arrangement.
•  Do not use the rubber bellows if it is torn or punctured; a damaged bellows lets dust and water into the body.
