RG316 10cm Sma Male Male Cable
RF Extension Cable Gold Plated Socket 0-6GHz Wi-Fi Antenna FPV Lora Helium Router Modem Coaxial GPS GSM GPRS
This product is a 10cm RG316 coaxial jumper cable with SMA male connectors on both ends. It has 50ohm impedance and works from DC to 6GHz. It connects two SMA female sockets over a short path: for example it connects the SMA female output of an RF module to a filter, attenuator, amplifier or the SMA female input of a measuring instrument. The connectors are gold plated and the cable entries are protected with black heat shrink tubing.
Since the cable is only 10cm long, its loss is very low: even at 6GHz the cable loss is about 0.3dB. That is why it is used for short connections between two devices in test setups and between two boards placed side by side inside an enclosure. RG316 is a flexible cable with an outer diameter of about 2.5mm; despite its short length it bends to match the alignment of the two sockets.
This cable is not an antenna extension cable: since both ends are male, an SMA male antenna cannot be connected to it. A male - female extension cable is needed to extend an antenna. Before buying, check that both sockets you will connect are SMA female (center hole, outer thread).
Key features:
SMA male on both ends: Both ends have an SMA male connector with a center pin; it connects two SMA female sockets (module, filter, measuring instrument).
Short and low loss: With its 10cm length the cable loss is about 0.3dB even at 6GHz; it connects two devices side by side without excess cable.
DC-6GHz, 50ohm: Used on 50ohm RF lines from 433MHz LoRa up to 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz Wifi; VSWR is ≤1.5.
Flexible RG316: The cable with an outer diameter of about 2.5mm bends even at short length; the cable weighs 7gr.
Gold plated connectors: Gold plated contact surfaces resist oxidation; the cable entries are supported with heat shrink tubing.

Usage information:
- Connect the cable between two SMA female sockets; screw the connectors on by hand without cross threading and tighten with your fingers. Do not overtighten with a wrench.
- Alignment of the two sockets matters with a short cable: if the sockets are not aligned, bend the cable gently after the end of the heat shrink; do not bend it sharply at the connector.
- When connecting to a measuring instrument, first connect the cable to the instrument and then to the circuit. Take the cable loss (about 0.3dB at 6GHz) into account: the power read on a spectrum analyzer is lower than at the source by this amount, and the signal reaching the circuit from a signal generator is reduced by the same amount.
Application areas:
- Spectrum analyzer and signal generator test connections
- Connection between an SDR receiver and a filter or amplifier
- RF attenuator and filter interconnection
- Connection between amplifier (LNA / PA) modules
- Short connection between two boards or a module and a panel socket inside an enclosure
- Connection between a LoRa module and an antenna splitter or filter
- GPS receiver and splitter connections
- Wifi and 4G modem test setups
- Laboratory and measurement bench RF connections
Precautions:
- Before buying, be sure to check that the connectors are suitable for you. Both ends of this cable are SMA male (center pin); it fits only SMA female sockets. It is not compatible with the RP-SMA (reverse polarity) sockets common on routers and network cards.
- It is not an antenna extension cable: an SMA male antenna does not fit this cable. Use a male - female extension cable to extend an antenna.
- A transmitter module should be operated with an antenna or load connected. A high power transmitter should not be connected directly to the input of a measuring instrument; put an attenuator in between if needed.
- Do not twist the cable while tightening the connector; the cable can break inside the connector.
