UNO R3 Plastic Protection Case

     The UNO R3 Plexi Case is a two-piece (base and lid) transparent plastic protective case made for the 68.6mm x 53.4mm UNO R3 board and UNO R3 compatible boards with the same size and hole pattern. The board sits on the pins of the base, and the lid is pressed on from above to close the case. Its outer size is about 75mm x 60mm x 20mm. The images are for display purposes; the UNO R3 board is not included in the package.

     With the case closed, the USB port, the DC power jack, the reset button and the female pin headers remain accessible; jumper wires plug into the pins through the openings in the lid. The reset button is designed to be pressed through the lid. The grille (slot) holes in the base provide ventilation, and two keyhole slots allow the case to be hung on a wall or panel. Thanks to the transparent body, the power and status LEDs on the board are visible while the case is closed.

     The case protects the underside of a board on the desk from conductive surfaces and dropped screws or wire pieces; when the board is installed in a permanent setup such as a greenhouse, aquarium, irrigation or weather station, it becomes a tidy housing against dust and touch. The product is shipped disassembled (parts separate).

Usage information:

• Place the board on the base so that the USB port and the DC power jack face the openings in the base; the mounting holes of the board should sit on the pins of the base.
• Align the lid so that the pin header openings are above the female pin headers of the board and press it gently until the snaps on the edges seat. Do not force the lid; if it does not seat, check the alignment.
• To hang the case on a wall, first remove the board, fit suitable round-head screws into the wall for the keyhole slots, hang the base on the screws and slide it, then fit the board and the lid.

Points to consider:

•  The case is made to UNO R3 size. It does not fit boards of a different size such as Mega or Nano, or boards with different connector positions.
•  The lid covers the top of the board; it does not close over a board with a shield (expansion board) fitted. Only jumper wires plug into the pins.
•  The case is not waterproof or moisture-proof. In greenhouse, irrigation and aquarium setups, place it where water cannot splash and no condensation forms.
•  Do not leave the plastic body near heat sources (soldering iron, heater, a closed car in the sun); it may deform.
