50cm 10 pcs Crocodile Clip Cable
Double Sided Alligator Clamp Jumper Wire Test Prototype Electronic Circuit Multimeter Power Supply
The Crocodile Cable 10 pcs Set consists of 10 test leads, approximately 50cm long, each with an insulated crocodile (alligator) clip on both ends. The cables come in 5 colors, black, white, red, green and yellow, two of each color. The clip is clamped onto a wire, pin, screw head, resistor lead or battery terminal to make a quick temporary connection without soldering; the colors make it easy to separate positive, negative and signal lines without mixing them up.
The jaws of the clips are nickel plated metal and close with a spring; they grip a part up to approximately 10mm thick at most. The colored plastic cover on the clips prevents short circuits while holding them and can be slid back so that the cable end can be soldered to the clip. The cables are flexible with colored plastic insulation; they are used in low voltage DC circuits with at most 30V and 1A.
This set is a cable with crocodile clips on both ends; unlike banana plug crocodile cables, it does not plug into the socket of a measuring instrument but is clamped onto the probe tip, the circuit or another cable with the clip. It is a set that should be at hand on the laboratory bench for measurements with a multimeter and power supply, breadboard trials, school science experiments and troubleshooting.
Key features:
Crocodile on both ends: Each cable has a spring crocodile clip on both ends; a connection between two points is made in seconds without solder or screws.
Easy to tell apart: Black, white, red, green and yellow cables come two of each; with color coding such as red for positive and black for negative, connection errors are reduced.
Insulated clip: The body of the clip is covered with a colored plastic cover; the risk of short circuit between clips placed side by side is lower and holding them is safe.
Reaches across the bench: With its 50cm length it easily reaches between the measuring instrument, the power supply and the circuit on the bench; since the cables are separate from each other, they can be used one by one.
Features:
- Product type: Double ended crocodile (alligator clip) test lead set
- Quantity: 10 cables, two of each in 5 colors
- End type: Insulated crocodile clip on both ends (no banana plug)
- Operating voltage: DC 30V maximum
- Operating current: 1A ( At higher currents, the cables heat up and may burn during long use. )
- Operating temperature: -10°C - 70°C
- Cable structure: Flexible, stranded copper conductor
- Clip jaw: Nickel plated metal, spring loaded
- Clip jaw opening: approximately 10mm at most
- Clip cover: Colored plastic, can be slid back
- Cable insulation: Colored plastic insulation
- Connection: Solderless; clamps onto a wire, pin, screw head, lead or battery terminal
- Usage class: Low voltage DC circuits; not for mains voltage
- Material: Plastic / Metal
- Cable colors: Black, white, red, green, yellow (two of each)
- Cable length: approximately 50cm (end to end)
- Clip length: approximately 35mm
- Clip jaw width: approximately 2.5mm
- Weight: approximately 50gr (10 cables)
Usage information:
- Open the clip by squeezing the rear part of the cover with two fingers, place the wire, pin or terminal in the toothed part of the jaw and release. Check that the clip grips the part fully and does not slip.
- Use color coding in the connections: red for positive (+), black for negative (GND), the other colors for signal lines. After building the circuit, check that the clips do not touch each other before applying power.
- When measuring with a multimeter, clamp the cable onto the probe of the instrument with the clip; it does not plug directly into the socket of the instrument.
Application areas:
- Fixing the probe to the circuit when measuring with a multimeter and measuring instrument
- Temporary supply from a laboratory power supply to the circuit
- Breadboard and solderless circuit trials
- School science experiments: potato battery, conductor / insulator experiment, simple electric circuit
- Low current temporary connection to batteries and small accumulators
- Trying sensor, buzzer, LED and small motor connections
- Troubleshooting and continuity (short circuit) checks
- Cable extension and bridging on the laboratory and repair bench
- Extending the ground connection of an oscilloscope and measuring instrument
Precautions:
- Use only in low voltage DC circuits with at most 30V and 1A. At higher currents, the cables heat up and may burn during long use.
- Do not use for mains voltage (220V AC) or for high current battery and motor connections.
- These cables have no banana plug, both ends are crocodile clips; a banana plug crocodile cable is needed to plug into the socket of a measuring instrument or power supply.
- Make sure that the metal jaws of clips connected side by side do not touch each other; a short circuit may damage the circuit and the power supply.
Package contents:
