     This product is an external whip antenna for the 868MHz band with a magnetic base and a 1 meter cable. Its total height is 26cm; the 23.2cm black antenna rod stands on a magnetic base that is 30mm in diameter and 2.8cm high. The 1 meter RG174 coaxial cable leaving the base ends in a gold plated SMA male (center pin) connector. Its gain is 6dBi (seller value) and its impedance is 50ohm; it radiates equally in all directions (360 degrees horizontally).

     Thanks to the magnetic base, the antenna can be fixed on a device enclosure, a panel door, a vehicle roof or any metal surface without screws or drilling, and it can be moved easily when needed. The 1 meter cable lets you bring the antenna of a LoRa module or gateway inside a closed box out of the box, to a point where the signal can spread more freely.

     The antenna is suitable for 868MHz LoRa / LoRaWAN devices and 868MHz ISM band telemetry and remote reading systems. Used instead of the short spring or PCB antenna on a module, it makes it easier to place the antenna higher and away from obstacles. This antenna is for the 868MHz band only; it is not used with Wifi (2.4GHz) or GSM / 4G devices.

Usage information:

• Screw the SMA male connector onto the SMA female socket of the device by hand without bending it and tighten it with your fingers; do not overtighten with a wrench.
• Place the antenna vertically, as high as possible and in an open spot. Placing the magnetic base on a metal surface (enclosure lid, panel, vehicle roof) helps the antenna work properly.
• When passing the cable through a device lid or a window, make sure the cable is not crushed; do not bend the cable at a sharp angle.

Precautions:

•  This antenna has an SMA male (center pin) connector. Your device socket must be SMA female; it does not fit RP-SMA devices (most Wifi devices). Check the socket type before buying.
•  The antenna is for the 868MHz band only. It does not work properly with 433MHz, Wifi (2.4GHz) or GSM / 4G devices; an antenna does not amplify the signal, it only radiates and receives it.
•  Do not let a transmitter module transmit without the antenna connected; transmitting without an antenna can damage the transmitter stage of the module.
•  Do not place the magnetic base on fragile surfaces or near electronic boards and magnetic cards.
•  There is no waterproof rating; if used outdoors, protect the connector and the base from rain.
