     GSM Antenna 90 Degree 3dBi is a 5cm long, right-angle short rubber antenna with an SMA male (center pin) connector. It works on the 850MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, 1900MHz and 2100MHz bands and screws directly onto the SMA female socket of GSM (2G), GPRS and 3G modules and modems. Its gain is 3dBi and its impedance is 50 ohm.

     Inside the black rubber sleeve there is a spring-wound (helical) radiating element; thanks to this structure the antenna works on the GSM bands with a short length of 5cm. The gold colored connector is joined to the body at a 90 degree angle: when screwed onto a horizontal SMA socket the antenna stands upright. The antenna is passive and needs no power.

     Being short and right-angled it does not stick out much from the board or device edge; it is used in tight places such as vehicle trackers, alarm panels, meter reading and telemetry boxes. Unlike 6dBi Wifi antennas for the 2.4GHz - 5.8GHz bands, it is made for the GSM bands.

     3dBi gain, 50 ohm: Suitable for the 50 ohm antenna output of GSM modules; VSWR is at most 2.0.

     Passive and durable: Needs no power; the flexible rubber sleeve protects the radiating element against knocks.

Usage information:

• Screw the antenna by hand onto the SMA female socket of the module or modem; finger tight is enough, do not overtighten with pliers.
• If your module has a small U.FL (IPEX) socket instead of SMA, fit a U.FL - SMA female adapter cable in between; the antenna screws onto the end of this cable.
• Use the antenna in the upright position (vertical polarization). The signal weakens inside a metal enclosure; if the box is metal keep the antenna outside or use an extension cable.

Precautions:

•  The connector is SMA male (center pin). It does not fit Wifi routers and boards with RP-SMA sockets; make sure your socket is SMA female.
•  This antenna is for the GSM bands; use a separate Wifi antenna for 2.4GHz Wifi and Bluetooth and a separate GPS antenna for GPS.
•  As a short antenna its range is limited in weak signal areas; if the signal is insufficient choose a cabled GSM antenna with higher gain.
•  Do not force, bend or pull the antenna at the 90 degree elbow; the connector and the module socket may be damaged.
