     INMP441 is a mems microphone sensor with high performance and low power consumption that communicates over I2S. INMP441 can identify natural sound with high sensitivity over a wide frequency range. It has a 24 Bit analog to digital converter. With the I2S interface it can be connected directly to dsps and microcontrollers without the need for an audio codec component. It has a high signal to noise ratio and is an excellent choice for near field applications.

What is the difference between an omnidirectional microphone and a unidirectional microphone?:
     Sound waves propagate in all directions in air. It must be used close to 1 sound source from a distance of 10-30cm. Sensitivity is affected by distance. Omnidirectional microphones detect sound from wider areas. They can detect sound from distances between 1-5 meters.

     Omnidirectional microphones also detect sounds coming from more than 1 sound source in high quality. Therefore it causes noise coming from the surroundings to be detected more as well. It has filters that will reduce external high noise.

     It is suitable for small meetings, private meetings, some remote discussions, remote operations. Since directional microphones can detect sound from many sources, it eliminates the use of more than 1 microphone. The reduction in hardware requirement leads to lower costs. It also greatly reduces cabling.

     In addition they do not need a sound amplification circuit. Classic microphones need a preamp circuit during sound pickup. Preamps can cause an increase in noise or ringing.

Pin Connections:

• SCK: I2S clock pin
• WS: Selection pin
• L/R: Left/Right channel selection. ( Low left / High Right )
• When the time cluster is low, the microphone gives signal on the left channel of the I2S frame.
• When set to high level, the microphone signals from the right channel
• SD: I2S Data pin
• VCC: DC 1,8V to 3,3V.
• GND: Ground
