     The F35J5V3A is a waterproof DC-DC converter module with a Type-C male cable that steps down DC 12V or 24V in vehicle and battery systems to 5V. The input voltage is at most 32V; the output provides at most 3A current and 15W power. A red (+) and black (-) input wire and a Type-C cable of about 30cm come out of the case; a phone, tablet or Type-C powered device plugs in directly.

     The circuit is inside a black waterproof plastic case; it is screwed into a vehicle, caravan or boat panel with the mounting ears at both ends of the case. It has reverse polarity, over current, short circuit and over temperature protections; its efficiency is about 90%. The output is a fixed 5V, phones and tablets charge at standard speed.

Usage information:

• Connect the red wire to the positive of the 12V or 24V line and the black wire to the negative. Before plugging in a device, check by measuring that there is 5V at the Type-C plug; adding a suitable fuse at the input is recommended.
• Fix the module with screws through its mounting ears; do not leave the cables under tension and keep them away from hot engine parts.
• For long term use, it is advisable not to exceed 2/3 of the stated maximum values; keeping the continuous load at about 2A or less extends the module life.

Precautions:

•  The input voltage must not exceed 32V; a higher voltage damages the module.
•  Do not connect a solar panel directly to the input; the open circuit voltage of a panel is higher than its rated voltage and can exceed 32V on 24V panels. Connect the module to the battery or to the load output of the charge controller.
•  The output is only 5V, it does not do PD or QC fast charging. Laptops that require more than 5V will not charge with this module.
•  The total load must not exceed 15W. The module gets warm at a continuous 3A load; do not mount it in closed and hot places.
•  Do not pull the cables out of the case; if the cable entries are damaged, the waterproofing is lost.
