XL4016 Adjustable Voltage and Adjustable Current Controlled Power Supply

4-36V To 1.25-36V     0.2A to 5A  Step-Down Power Supply ( Steps Voltage Down )

 

     XL4016 Voltage and Current adjustable power supply module. It has 5A ( 8A ) current capability. A DC 36V maximum input voltage can be applied. The output voltage is adjustable between DC 1.2V and 32V.

     Voltage and current adjustment is made very precisely with the multi-turn ( 20-30 turns ) potentiometers. A power supply application can be made with this product. In addition, thanks to the current control feature on the device, you can also use the product for Led driver and Battery charging jobs.

     The XL4016 and MBR10200 ICs are used in the module. It has low output noise thanks to the capacitors that can operate at high frequencies.

Warnings:

  •    There is a 2V difference between the input and the output. For this reason, a 2V higher voltage must be applied from the input to obtain the desired output.
  •    In long-term use, you should draw less than 5A current.
  •    It steps voltage down, it does not step it up.

 

Potentiometer Usage:

  • The potentiometers are multi-turn. They can turn 20-30 turns in both directions. Generally, by turning them very little, one can fall into the mistake that the products do not work. It is necessary to turn a lot to see the effect.
  • Turning clockwise; increases the value for the relevant parameter. For example the voltage increases.
  • Turning counter-clockwise; decreases the value for the relevant parameter. For example the voltage drops.

 

Battery Charging Usage Settings:

  •     Remember, in the city mains there is continuously enough energy to charge any battery you use in 1 second. Nevertheless, we charge these devices over long periods.
  •     When batteries are depleted, their voltages are at low levels. If you connect a battery directly to a power supply without current limiting while it is being charged, it charges with the maximum current the supply can deliver. This situation damages the battery. The battery may explode due to excessive heating. In addition, if batteries are charged with a current higher than the current determined by the manufacturer, the battery life decreases. As an example, a battery that can be charged and discharged 500 times in total will become unusable after a much lower number of uses. For this reason, batteries need to be charged with a charging current at a rate such as 1/10  2/10 of their current capacities.
  •     Calculate / determine / find out the required charging voltage and charging current for the battery to be charged.
  •     Current adjustment: Set the output voltage to 5V. Set the voltmeter as an ammeter and connect the probes to the module output. The device will be short-circuited through the ammeter. At this stage, by seeing the current on the ammeter, adjust it to the required current value with the current adjustment potentiometer.
  •     Then disconnect the voltmeter from the module. By bringing it to the voltage you want with the module voltage potentiometer, you can use it with the output current you determined in the previous stage.

 

LED Driver Usage Settings:

  •     Before using the module, calculate / determine / find out the led driving voltage and current.
  •     Current adjustment: Set the output voltage to 5V. Set the voltmeter as an ammeter and connect the probes to the module output. The device will be short-circuited through the ammeter. At this stage, by seeing the current on the ammeter, adjust it to the required current value with the current adjustment potentiometer.
  •     Then disconnect the voltmeter from the module. By bringing it to the voltage you want with the module voltage potentiometer, you can use it with the output current you determined in the previous stage.

Battery charge:

  1.  Make sure of the battery float voltage and charging current that you need, as well as the input voltage of the module.
  2.  Adjust the constant voltage potentiometer and adjust the output voltage to about 5V.
  3. Use the multimeter in 10A current scale to measure output short-circuit current, and adjust the current potentiometer to make the output current to the expected charging current value.
  4.  Adjust the constant voltage potentiometer to make the output voltage reaches the float voltage.
  5.  Connected to the battery, try to charge.
  6. (1,2,3,4 steps to connect the power module input,output no-load does not connect battery.)

 

LED constant current drive:

  1.  Make sure the operating current and Max operating Voltage of the LED you need to drive.
  2.  Adjust the constant voltage potentiometer, adjust the output voltage to about 5V.
  3.  Use the multimeter in 10A current scale to measure output short-circuit current, and adjust the current. Potentiometer to make sure the output current to the expected LED operating current.
  4.  Adjust the constant voltage potentiometer to make the output voltage reach the maximum LED operating voltage.
  5.  Connect LED, test.
  6. (1,2,3,4 steps to connect the power module input, output No-load does not connect LED.)
