It is an optical sensor that produces 400 pulses per full revolution. It is used for measuring parameters such as rotation speed, direction, angle, acceleration and travel distance. Based on this information we can carry out various control operations precisely. It is used to determine the speed of moving systems and where the system is. Or, for example, it can be used for the control function in a volume control operation.
It can operate with a DC 5-24V supply. As the encoder shaft turns, the signals generated are counted with an Arduino or similar microprocessor kit or circuit to find the number of rotations. The outputs are used by connecting them to an mcu pin with a pull up resistor. If the encoder ends are left floating, you may not be able to measure properly with an oscilloscope. It is appropriate to connect them to the supply with 2 pull up resistors and measure with the scope.
