It is a sensor module using the BME280 sensor produced by Bosch, which can measure temperature, barometric pressure and humidity.It offers the possibility of making 3 different types of measurement with a single product. This sensor can be used for detecting weather conditions.
This precise sensor from Bosch can measure humidity with +-3% accuracy, barometric pressure with +-1 hPa absolute accuracy, and temperature with +-1.0 C accuracy. Pressure changes with altitude and since the pressure measurements are very good you can also use it as an altimeter with +-1 meter or better accuracy..
It arrives soldered onto the PCB. It is suitable for use with a 3.3V supply. It is possible to communicate with the sensor via I2C and/or SPI communication types.
The BME280 is the next-generation of sensors from , and is the upgrade to the BMP085/BMP180/BMP183 - with a low altitude noise of 0.25m and the same fast conversion time. It has the same specifications, but can use either I2C or SPI. For simple easy wiring, go with I2C. If you want to connect a bunch of sensors without worrying about I2C address collisions, go with SPI.
The BME280 is an integrated environmental sensor developed specifically for mobile applications where size and low power consumption are key design constraints. The pressure sensor is an absolute barometric pressure sensor with features exceptionally high accuracy and resolution at very low noise. The integrated temperature sensor has been optimized for very low noise and high resolution. It is primarily used for temperature compensation of the pressure and humidity sensors, and can also be used for estimating ambient temperature.
The BME280 supports a full suite of operating modes which provides the flexibility to optimize the device for power consumption, resolution and filter performance.
